One of the elements of the project “Increasing the Attractiveness and the Educational Capacity of the Lonjsko Polje Nature Park by building the Visitor Center “Crna roda” Osekovo” is to increase the educational capacity of participants in the area of Lonjsko Polje Nature Park.
Educational workshops were held to increase the educational capacity of employees, locals, and visitors.
Two three-day workshops were organized for the employees of the Public Institution Lonjsko Polje Nature Park. The first workshop entitled “Effective communication skills” aimed to raise awareness of the importance of frequent use of communication skills. The second workshop entitled “The Function and role of marketing in the organization” aimed to raise awareness of the marketing function within the organization and its role in the processes of creating products/services, its marketing, positioning, branding and communication with target groups.
Also, for two groups of five employees of the Park, English and French language courses were held for two semesters.
The aim is to bring natural values closer to the youngest visitors through the educational activities of the project, and workshops have been organized for preschool, primary and secondary school age groups. During 2019, workshops were held for 4th and 6th grade students of the Zvonimir Frank Elementary School from Kutina, first grade students of the Tin Ujević High School from Kutina and for preschool children of the Neven Kindergarten from Kutina. The workshops were held in the reception center Repušnica, and the participants had the opportunity to use a research laboratory whose procurement is also provided through this Project.
Educational activities for the local population were conducted with the aim of raising awareness of the natural and historical resources of this area and improving the attitude of the local population towards the protected values of the Park. During 2019, two one-day educational workshops were held for the local population from the area of Osekovo and Popovača on the topic of “Diversity and protected species and habitats” and “Sustainable development”. The educational program, which included professional lectures, interactive workshops, and a field trip, was designed and maintained by the staff of the Department of Professional Affairs for the Protection, Maintenance, Preservation, Promotion and Use of the Nature Park.
We ended our educational activities in 2020 by holding a workshop on “Traces of the Military Frontier” organized by the Department for Promotional Activities and the Visiting System. The participants of the workshop had the opportunity to learn more about the history of this area and the connection between Lonjsko polje and the Military Frontier, walk along the footpath Staza graničara and enjoy a ride on solar boats.
