Construction and equipping of the “Crna Roda” visitor centre Osekova have been completed

Osekovo, 8 July 2021 – Representatives of the Public Institution “Lonjsko polje Nature Park” with the partners in the realisation of the project “Increasing the Attractiveness and the Educational Capacity of the Lonjsko polje Nature Park by Building the Visitor Centre “Crna Roda” Osekovo”, Sisak-Moslavina County and the Town of Popovača held a conference marking the end of construction and equipping of the “Crna Roda” Visitor Centre. General goal of the project, with a total value of HRK 20,315,914.88, of which European Union grants from the European Regional Development Fund (through the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Cohesion) amount to HRK 12,898,999.00, is to increase the attractiveness of the Lonjsko polje Nature Park and to increase the educational capacity of the target groups such as Park staff, local population and other relevant stakeholders in the Park area. The project is managed by Simora d.o.o. and is co-financed by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.
“Crna Roda” Visitor Centre is a modern, contemporary architectural complex which houses information centre, gift shop, presentation hall, and a number of educational and interactive interpretation contents. The Centre was designed by Tonči Čerina, dipl.ing.arh. (Roth i Čerina d.o.o.), and the works were performed by the PE-GRA Sole Proprietorship for Construction and Services from Novska.
In addition to the construction of the Centre, numerous other activities have also been carried within the scope of the project such as: drafting a Visitor Management Study, drafting a Study for placement of signalisation on access roads leading to the Lonjsko Polje nature park, training sessions were held for the Park staff and local population and children’s groups, two solar-powered boats and five electric bicycles have been purchased, a system for tracking the number of visitors was introduced. Additional amenities in the Nature Park are the new lookouts – watchtowers which will enable the visitors to have a more interesting and content-rich stay at the park. “Ptica kosac” watchtower in Repušnica is already open to visitors, while two are in the finals stage of construction: “Bijela roda” in Čigoč and “Tradicionalni ribolov” on the Lonja river in the vicinity of the centre at Osekovo..
In her address, the Director thanked all those who took part in the realisation of the project, stressed its importance to the Nature Park, but also to the local population and the Sisak-Moslavina County (close to the capital Zagreb), with its enormous potential to develop the county as a unique tourist destination of Central Croatia by raising the quality of the visitor infrastructure and amenities.
